Justice Minister Ali Sabry said yesterday 553,000 Sri Lankans were addicted to drugs. Speaking at a function held at Viyangalla in Kalutara, Minister Sabry assured that measures would be taken to eradicate the drug menace from the country.
"In order to ensure the security of everyone, we will unearth all roots of the drug scourge. If a special unit is needed for this, we will create one as well," he said.
He said the high number of people addicted to drug was a grave situation and only a strong leader like President Gotabaya Rajapaksa can eradicate the drug menace in the country. (Lahiru Pothmulla)

Does this number include the people who do drugs in private with groups of friends? The so called ladies and gentlemen of CMB. It’s a public secret and they are yet to be arrested.

Find those who bring drugs to sri lanka via sea routes and airport. Then kill them on the spot. Similar to what singapore does. Then problem will get sorted out. Unless you eradicate the drug importers this thing won't get solved easily.

As a by product of unnecessary 2019 Easter pogrom, whole Srilankan Muslims turned in to untouchables in Srilanka, treated them with suspiciously ,as a result of some politicians dubious remarks and dealings, such as swords to cut grass too help that attitude but majority accept Mr. Sabri, as someone who can bridge Muslims with other communities, without demanding selfish concessions which antagonize other communities

If we grow kansa as Bandula says it will be a very good import substitution.

Why should Justice Minister comment about drug addiction? Drug addiction has nothing to do with Justice. Sad to see drug addicts in prisons and committing suicide. You have a solution for this Justice Minister or Health Minister?

Talking about symptoms won't help. Understand the ROOT causes of the problems: OSHO.com/Library/Seach/Read: DRUGS, addiction, depression, anxiety, MEDITATION/Catharsis, Active meditation

So, the justice minister has taken the effort to count every single one of these! Hats off to you minister. Hope you didn't miss any. Great job. Now try and concentrate on the dealers who were protected for the past 15 years.
