Forty four students including 12 monks from the Sri Jayawardena University were suspended for taking part in a protest last week, General Secretary of the Arts Faculty Students Union Ven. Kuburupitiye Gnaniswara Thero said today.

“44 students including 12 monks were suspended today when they were informed by a letter which said their suspension will last until further notice”, General Secretary of the Arts Faculty Students Union Ven. Kuburupitiye Gnaniswara Thero said

According to him the suspension was a result of the protest they held last week to against the 84 students who had previously suspended for various reasons.

“Most of the students who were suspended yesterday did not take part in the protest. They had also sent a suspension letter to a fellow monk who had passed away some time ago. They have suspended students randomly as they wish,” Ven. Gnaniswara thero said. (Sumaiya Rizvi)

I bet it cant be just participating a protest. The student unions are the biggest liars in the country. They are very good at making stories... im sure this is one of that...

Another victory for the IUSF. Sacrificing students by getting them suspended or arrested to gain sympathy from the public.

Well done ... J'pura university will become a heaven for
real students not for JVP thugs.

I suppose they wouldn't mind it at all as they are usually on self-suspension most of the time!!!

Good action. Have an inquiry and punish if guilty. Any other education institute in the world would have done it.
