Forty four students including 12 monks from the Sri Jayawardena University were suspended for taking part in a protest last week, General Secretary of the Arts Faculty Students Union Ven. Kuburupitiye Gnaniswara Thero said today.

“44 students including 12 monks were suspended today when they were informed by a letter which said their suspension will last until further notice”, General Secretary of the Arts Faculty Students Union Ven. Kuburupitiye Gnaniswara Thero said

According to him the suspension was a result of the protest they held last week to against the 84 students who had previously suspended for various reasons.

“Most of the students who were suspended yesterday did not take part in the protest. They had also sent a suspension letter to a fellow monk who had passed away some time ago. They have suspended students randomly as they wish,” Ven. Gnaniswara thero said. (Sumaiya Rizvi)

At this rate only VC will remain at the end. Problems cannot be solved in this way.

How many were suspended from those who took part in the protest at the British High Commission today?

    nawam Friday, 03 December 2010 10:19 AM

Good action. Have an inquiry and punish if guilty. Any other education institute in the world would have done it.

    lankaputha Friday, 03 December 2010 10:22 AM

Will you please do the same for the students of the parliament who protest in front of UN office and British High Commision

From all these actions and protests, it is obvious we are heading towards a miserable future.

    Cobra Friday, 03 December 2010 10:45 AM

I suppose they wouldn't mind it at all as they are usually on self-suspension most of the time!!!

    maheshi Saturday, 04 December 2010 11:47 AM

Don't spare any one even dead who are supposed to be in the opposition parties. What a wonderful democracy prevailing in the WONDER OF ASIA.

Well done ... J'pura university will become a heaven for
real students not for JVP thugs.

Good move let other uni students also learn a lesson.

    Mel Friday, 03 December 2010 11:31 AM

Another victory for the IUSF. Sacrificing students by getting them suspended or arrested to gain sympathy from the public.

    #srilankan2 Friday, 03 December 2010 11:39 AM

I bet it cant be just participating a protest. The student unions are the biggest liars in the country. They are very good at making stories... im sure this is one of that...

    siri Saturday, 04 December 2010 02:06 AM

    Very good request!

    meranchi Saturday, 04 December 2010 03:15 AM
