Twenty-one senior police officers including four Deputy Inspector Generals of Police (DIGs) have been transferred with immediate effect.
The National Police Commission (NPC) had approved the transfers based on the service requirements.
Police said a Superintendent of Police (SP), 10 Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASPs) and six Chief Inspectors were also among the transferred.
Accordingly, Kegalle DIG C.K.Alahakoon was transferred as DIG in charge of Kandy District, DIG in charge of the Kurunegala District G.M.H.B. Siriwardena was transferred to the Police Headquarters, DIG D.P Chandrasiri was transferred as the DIG in charge of the Kegalle District while L.K.D. Anil Priyantha was transferred as DIG in charge of the Kurunegala District from the post of DIG in charge of the Environmental Protection and Community Police Division.
SP H.K.S Wijegunawardena had been transferred from Matara Division to Elpitiya Division.
The transferred ASPs were; M.M Kumarasinghe to Colombo South from Elpitiya division, R.M.N. Ratnayake from Elpitiya division to Matara division, S.A.C.P Subhasinghe to City traffic from Kankesanthurai division, N.J Edirisinghe from the Police Tourism Division to the City Traffic division, A.L Abeygunaskara from Badulla division to Kegalle division, N.A Rupasinghe from City Traffic Division to Police Transport Division, W.D.K.N Perera from Kantale division to Human Resource Management division, K.W.D Thusarasena from Jaffna Division to Police Headquarters (duties in the office of the Chief of Defense Staff) and W.M.D.R Wanigasekara from Kandy division to Kantale division
