37 injured in head-on collision

Thirty seven passengers were injured this afternoon in a head-on collision between a SLTB bus and a private bus on the Nittambuwa-Katunayake road near 1st mile post, police said.

The injured passengers were admitted to the Wathupitiwala Hospital. Three of them were in a critical condition.

    Elsewhere, in a report it was said that the driver was using the hand phone and was talking when the accident occurred. The judges should extend maximum punishment and sentence these drivers to jail to serve a long time as an example.
