33 skulls unearthed in Matale

Thirty three skulls and skeletal remains have been found at the Matale hospital premises so far, police said.

These skulls and skeletal remains were found while digging trenches to lay the foundation for the proposed bio-gas unit of the Matale Hospital.

Further excavations are being carried out in the site while the police are conducting further investigations with the CID. Pix by Mahesh Ruwan Keerthirathna

so it looks like a mass grave! who is the culprit and why don't we hear anything from our patriots, who always blame everybody and praise the "civilized" and wonderful mother lanka? If UN, Red Cross or AI say something then they will wake up at once to tell them to take care of their business!

It seems the bodies have been laid down in a very orderly fashion. One next to the other. Not just dumped one upon another. I don't understand why the killers were so careful? The depth of the grave yard however seems to be less than 6 feet (2nd image).

Most probably these are bodies of the JVP youths killed during the 1988-89 rebellion.
