The police had arrested 28 persons who had violated the curfew which was imposed island-wide since yesterday, the Police Headquarters said.
They said that nine persons have been arrested from Dambulla, four from Walasmulla, two from Nallathanniya, eight from Bandarawela, two persons from Katunayake and one each from Haputale, Tangalle and Ampara since last evening.
Meanwhile, DIG Ajith Rohana said that it was vital that the public adheres to the curfew, pointing out that if not, the purpose in imposing it is lost. He also noted that there was no requirement for curfew passes for essential services related movements. They are medical and health services, water, electricity services, media services, food and medicine related services, immigration and emigration services, ports and airport services, food production services, customs, fuel services, and volunteer organization personnel.
“For essential service movement, the person intending to travel during curfew hours should produce clear proof to the police officers on duty at checkpoints regarding the services they are involved in, DIG Rohana added.

The whole purpose of 3 day curfew is lost because people queued inside groceries supermarkets almost touching each other for 2-3 hours. If there were any carriers of Coronavirus then some would have got it. Each supermarket in Colombo would have 1000s who queued up for 2 hours. A better solution would have been to let all groceries shops and supermarkets open while other places like restaurants closed. This arrangement could be indefinite not limited to 3 days so that hoarding and large queues will stop. That's what's been done in NY and California
