Twenty ex-commandos arrested

A special Army team and the Gokarelle police have arrested 20 ex-commandos and a colonel under suspicion of planning election violence,  Army Spokesperson Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara told Daily Mirror online. 

Police media spokesman SSP I.M Karunaratne said that after questioning the suspects it has been further reveled that similar groups are spread across the country. The questioning was carried out by DIG Crimes Anura Senanayake and Kurunegala SSP Vaas Gunawardena.

 

 Presently the investigations are carried out by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), SSP Karunaratne said.
