The Police Chief has promoted 146 police constables to the rank of Sergeant with effect from February 15, 2009, the Police Media Unit said.

These promotions have been made after considering the several appeals made by the policemen who were not promoted to the rank of Sergeant though they possessed the required qualifications.

Today not only promotions but also confirmation letters are also given according to political favoritism. It is indeed very sad situation.

It means 145 Police votes to UPFA with their family votes. Good. Why they should have been promoted as per their merits long ago, why at this time, when the elections are nearing?

Hopefully, they had been given proper training in handling guns.
