Five presidential Security Division (PSD) officers were killed and several others injured when a defender vehicle and two private buses crashed into each other at Miriswatte on the Minuwangoda-Colombo Road this morning.
Three males and one female were among the dead, police said.
The injured were admitted to the Minuwangoda Hospital and later transferred to the Gampaha Hospital.
Another injured PSD officer who was receiving treatment at the Gampaha Hospital had been succumbed to his injuries a few hours later, police said. (Tony Karunaratne)

two buses were going in opposite directions sceen was very clear .dont blame bus drivers.
Sharm Friday, 11 September 2015 01:43 PM
Watch the video carefully. The PSD driver is driving too fast, overtaking a bus in the bend and cutting across a single line, all grave driving errors. For once the bus drivers are not at fault.

Well done camera man. But see how dumb the driver in the Jeep is. It is like suicide
saranapala Friday, 11 September 2015 02:45 PM
What an idiot is the driver, wet road/solid white line and the bend. Why do they drive like lunatics. Last time when I was in Sri Lanka my car was nearly hit by one of these PSD jeep.

Defender is one of the most unsafe vehicle. It seems no air bags were there. I wonder why our people just love defender.

Dominic Friday, 11 September 2015 03:47 PM
Its no doubt the PSD guys fault but I dont know if you noticed but the on coming bus actually turned in towards the defender moments before the crash. Was it a reflex action or did he do it on purpose?
Mohideen Friday, 11 September 2015 03:48 PM

Defender suppliers will stop exporting them to Sri Lanka if they see this video and realise how we drive them here. What a shame.
Malith Thursday, 10 September 2015 04:26 PM
two Buses on same route... of course a Bus Race. Obvious. We need more strict laws for buses. These people behave like road gangs showing their way through and making up their own rules.
Maya Thursday, 10 September 2015 12:14 PM
Sad. However can not stop thinking if these PSD men wanted for a high profile murder investigation of the CID.
