Thilak says it was "day light robbery"

The Daily Mirror in an explosive interview with former SEC Chairman Thilak Karunarathne spoke to him in detail about what transpired in the run up to his resignation. In his most detailed interview to date since his resignation Karunarathne said that what happened in the bourse was “day light robbery” and it was clear that “Powerful people” wanted him out.

Though he says he is no diplomat he is diplomatically vague in his answers. By his answers the viewer gets the impression that it is HE the President that is not supporting him in his job and preventing action against the wrong doers. Basically it is HE the President who appointed him that is safeguarding the so called mafia and listening to them. History shows that he is a person who does not follow up on his own convictions when the going gets tough and bails out.
He should have stayed till all his findings are investigated and wrong doers are punished. Coming to the media and not exposing fully is not enough.

I ws a great supporter of Thilak Karunarathne until this interview which showed his arrogance and his snobbery. His demeanour of The King of Swaziland just because it was a little country was embarassing and disrespectful. However small and insignificant, they are recognised by that august body, UN and we may come to need them one day. Please Mr. Karunarathne, if you cannot name the wrongdoings and the wrongdoers, stop the innundoes and let your successor get on with his job.

If thilak did correct job why market went down. Did he protect small investors. He supported only few stock brokers and he worked only betterment for them. He used sec rules and regulation for falling down the market.

Tilak is wrong!~He was given a job and if he had obstructions to execute it he should have simply first informed the Finance Minster, who is MR, his boss about these interferences. And if the required support was not coming from him then he should have resigned. Listening to others and saying that "' he got the message through third parties', shows how unsuitable he is as a manager and especially for an important post like this.

I think Thilak should just get over it, Accept the fact that he couldn't do his job and he was replaced. What's the use of going on and on about it now? Horse is dead, stop beating it.

Looking at this from a different perspective, I think Thilak is loving the lime light, all the media coverage and publicity. I guess this is the attention he never got during his tenure as SEC chairman (because he had nothing to report).

Pls, either lets move on or reveal who is behind all allegations factually. Because the public is getting tired of Thilak's daily teaser.

Or even better, let's talk about the world hunger problem, because our contribution to that might be more fruitful than discussing this. Many of us have lost money in the stock market, we all want to know the truth and facts.

Another recent day light robbery was sudden and huge increase of vehicle duties few months ago. People had been encouraged before to import vehicles and increased the duty suddenly overnight. So Middle class innocent people had to pay thumping amounts to clear their even small cars . Some people gave up lakhs of money as they could not afford .
