Something most politicians have forgotten is that their duty is not to the party but to the people appointed them. If they can not serve the people appointed them by staying in the party it is better to leave it and join a party that is more open and is in a position to implement the policies.
If people voted for him just because if he was in UNP, then I will call that stupidity of the people. Voting should be done based on the policies not on the party a politician belong to.
I voted for him and his policies hoping that he would be able to do something to the education system in Sri Lanka. And I am happy that he left UNP and joined the government.
