Amagi Lagoon opens in Negombo

The Economic Development Ministry in its endeavour to attract one million tourists by 2012 opened another tourist resort, Amagi Lagoon Resort & Spa in Negombo recently.

Amagi Lagoon Resort & Spa, located just five minutes away from the Katunayaka International Airport was constructed at a cost of Rs.500 million.

This three-star luxury hotel has 22 luxury rooms including three water bungalows, two restaurants, swimming pool, banquet hall, state-of-the-art gymnasium and a modern fully-fledged spa.

Amagi Lagoon Resort & Spa is located on a two acre land which borders the Negombo lagoon. It was built with the intention of providing an opportunity for guests to move into the lagoon and to experience new styles of recreation.

The resort accommodates local holidaymakers as well as international travellers. The hotel and spa will create employment for youth in the area in addition to boosting income and business opportunities to the selfemployed and micro enterprises.
