The Kingsbury was declared open a year ago on the 17th of December and since has grown to be one of Colombo's most sought after establishments for business, leisure and dining. Looming in all its colonial splendor, overlooking the turquoise Indian Ocean,The Kingsbury not only has the best of locations to be situated in, but is also a true testimony to the bygone era of grace and charm in all aspects; the architecture, interior décor, the personalized service and the overall ambience of the hotel.

Owned and operated by Hayleys PLC, one of Sri Lanka's oldest and largest conglomerates with a history spanning over 134 years,The Kingsbury is a luxury hotel. Renovated and re-launched for operations in December 2012,The Kingsbury has today become a sensation within the city. Its philosophy hinges on offering a“lifestyle of luxury”bringing back good old fashion hospitality where personalization and respect is key. Owing to this philosophy the guests are served to ensure that their meals are perfect and their experiences complete. The Kingsbury, as its very name suggests is an ode to the golden age of grace and elegance; an era when royalty was celebrated. The Hotel was established with this core value in mind,

and over the year has succeeded in emulating just this.

It is indeed noteworthy that within just a year since beginning its operations within the city,The Kingsbury won two international awards, namely the ‘World Luxury Hotel'Award for the Best Luxury City Hotel in the Indian Ocean and the‘Wellness and Spa' certification, which is a great achievement. TheWorld Luxury Hotel Award is recognized as an accolade awarded to luxury hotels with world class facilities and excellent hospitality extended to guests. On the other hand, the‘Wellness and Spa' is a certification exclusively awarded to Hotels and Establishments that fulfil the requirements of wellness oriented guests and the stringent European Audit Institute of Wellness & Spa (EAWS) quality standards. It is significant that the Award is competed for by more than 6500 hotels across Europe and within the Mediterranean Sea.

Having begun with the aim of becoming an international brand,The Kingsbury successfully cinched this space and proved to the world at large that it is indeed a star class, international establishment by winning these awards in such a short span of time. The achievement stands at phenomenal heights and the credit is due to the dedication, loyalty and professionalism of the management, staff, and the support of its patrons.Without their teamwork and commitment, the Hotel would not have been able to reach its current position. Standing at the threshold of having completed a successful year,The Kingsbury pledges to continue its exceptional services with increased fervor in the future too, as it looks forward to winning many more accolades.
