Travel restrictions between provinces will likely be implemented over the next few days, Army Commander General Shavendra Silva said.

The Army Commander said that at talks held today no decision was taken to enforce an islandwide lockdown.

However, he said travel restrictions, especially between provinces, will likely be enforced. He also said that essential services will be allowed operate between provinces f travel restrictions are enforced.

General Shavendra Silva also said that the Army will be deployed to assist the health authorities in the vaccination process.

It was decided today to expand the coronavirus vaccination program around the country while focusing on the Colombo, Kalutara and Gampaha Districts. (Easwaran Rutnam)

Nonsense ! The entire vaccination process handled by the so called medical professionals were utter chaos with people from outside the areas given vaccinations for favorations ! We need the Army to maintain control and provide vaccinations to the deserving citizens !

Every province has got cases, therefore restricting inter-travel may not be that effective. Need restrict travel outside home :-)

Too late and too little. This should have been done during the April New Year holidays. Works still a Monday sandwiched in between was also declared a holiday for political or land selling milage.

There isnt more to say.. If the govt cant take an example from the govt of India.. We can take an example from the people of India. They are helping themselves and eachother and we can do that too. Go on self isolation. Refuse to step out and stop this pandemic from spreading. Refuse to go out and impose self Lockdown till they start taking notice. Closing fr 2 weeks is better than fearing the next 2months. How do we spread the word?

Travel restrictions should be extended to foreigners. Three Indians who entered Sri Lanka with negative PCR tests are in our government hospitals as in Sri Lanka they tested positive! Is this the start of some scam?
