UNP Deputy Leader and Housing and Cultural Affairs Minister Sajith Premadasa today pledged to create an era where the hardships faced by the common man would be no more and that it would begin in November.
He said this while flanking Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe at the opening of the “Green Valley’ apartment complex at Ranala in Kaduwela.
“I make this promise in the name of my late father Ranasinghe Premadasa that I will end the hardships faced by the common man from November this year,” Mr. Premadasa said. “The portfolio of housing which I got is not the same portfolio which my late father got in 1977. Construction of all kinds of houses including houses for fishermen, the estate workers and for the middle-income earners were under the preview of the Housing Ministry during my father’s time. However, this was changed from 1994. Accordingly, the building of houses for the fishermen, the estate workers and the middle-income earners were brought under the purview of different ministries just to satisfy politicians. The situation is the same today because only housing projects for rural people and projects under a private-public partnership basis come under my purview. I assure you this system will soon change.”
Mr. Premadasa said a person’s right to own a house and a block of land should be recognised as a basic human right though many talk of the freedom of expression and freedom of gathering as basic human rights.
He said the present government had focused on the rights of people with Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne upholding the people’s right to healthcare by reducing prices of medicine while Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam had upheld the rights of schoolchildren though the 'Langama Pasala Hondama Pasala' programme. Every tom, dick or harry says and promises such goodies, but alas finally it becomes fairytale. Both Gota and you cannot beat about the bush. Most important how are we getting the money to run the country. ? Loans again to even service previous loans !

Mr. sajith is having hardships begging for the presidential candidacy
A PUBLIC FORUM PLEASE COME FORWARD Monday, 12 August 2019 09:34 PM
A public group should publicly invite Gota and Sajith for a TV appearence for them to say how they will meet all our expenditure and also deal with outstanding cases of murder and money laundering etc . Questions to be put forward by the moderator. The invitation should go public so that the person refusing to appear on TV will get exposed. This should be recorded at two venues at the same time so that the one cannot have a pre-notion of what the other has to say.. Such sessions should be broadcast on all channels . Better, some channels broadcast live one candidate whilst he answers whilst at the same time another set (of channels) carries broadcast the live for the other (candidate). And the next time switch over. In this election non of the candidates should be allowed to go scot free by just making promises, -- they should come forward and say how they will meet all these problems..

This is what was said in 1948.
First create discipline in politics and civil society and then follow on.

You have still not fulfilled the promise of booking the criminals of the previous regime responsible for looting and robbing the country ? Why don't you talk about that ???

You had better make sure that the soul of Richard De Soyza is at rest as your father is responsible for his death. If not you will never ever succeed in your ventures. That's final.
