Minister of Sports Harin Fernando today urged the entire coaching staff of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) to step down after the home series against Bangladesh.

The Minister, in a letter to the SLC, urged the present coaching staff to step down and re-negotiate the fresh contracts after the three-match ODI Series against Bangladesh which begins on July 26 at the R. Premadasa Stadium.

Sri Lanka failed to secure a semi-final spot and was placed sixth having recorded only three wins at the recent ICC Cricket World Cup held in England and Wales.

Mr Minister Remember "You are only the watch dog". Let SLC take decisions and run cricket irrespective of SLC management corrupt or not. If you are interested in improving the game, you should initiate to change the constitution of SLC by setting up a committee of respected past players and administrators.

SL team went through like 57 players last couple of years!! In the process the Selectors damaged the confidence of majority of those players!!! Moreover, had like 6 captaincy changes!!! Well, its time to install new Selectors with a Master Plan for Next ODI World Cup!!!

Mr. Minister, Clean-up SLC ASAP !!!

Not the coaching staff, cricket administration and selectors has to be changed first of all.

Lord Wolfstein Thursday, 18 July 2019 09:22 AM

Sri Lanka Cricket should be an private organisation without any interference from the politics like in other countries. Even a ministry of sports is not necessary; in other countries it comes under the home ministry.
