A 29-year-old woman in Kegalle gave birth to quintuplets - two boys and three girls - at the Kandy General Hospital this morning, Hospital authorities said.
They said the babies, who are being kept in an incubator are reportedly in good health.
This is said to be the second set of quintuplets born in Sri Lanka. On the earlier occasion a Presidential Security Division (PSD) officer’s wife had given birth to quintuplets.
On both occasions it was Surgeon Professor Kamal Gunawardena who was the gynecologist in attendance. (Shane Seneviratne and Chaturanga Pradeep)
