A 29-year-old woman in Kegalle gave birth to quintuplets - two boys and three girls - at the Kandy General Hospital this morning, Hospital authorities said.

They said the babies, who are being kept in an incubator are reportedly in good health.

This is said to be the second set of quintuplets born in Sri Lanka. On the earlier occasion a Presidential Security Division (PSD) officer’s wife had given birth to quintuplets.

On both occasions it was Surgeon Professor Kamal Gunawardena who was the gynecologist in attendance. (Shane Seneviratne and Chaturanga Pradeep)

Congratulations! to the parents and the medical team who assisted in the birth.
Caring for Five children at one time will require substantial Financial resources and home help. Can the Daily Mirror or sister publications start a fund for this family?

While we all are happy on this rare incident and while we wish the mother and father well, it is also worrying to thing how they would cooperate with the ever increasing price including milk food. My WARNING to the parents please... please do not let any politicians to come into your house for curse follows them wherever they set foot.
