Former Pakistani captain Shahid Afridi has become "older.”

On the eve of his birthday, which falls on March 1, he tweeted the following message: "Thank you very much for all the lovely birthday wishes - 44 today! My family and my fans are my biggest assets. Really enjoying my stint with Multan and hope to produce match winning performances for all MS (Multan Sultan) fans.”

Like many other Pakistani cricketers, there has always been confusion with all-rounder Afridi's actual Date of Birth.

As per official records, Afridi is still 41 years old, something that has also been recorded on a few cricket-specific websites.

His autobiography (Game Changer) suggests his current age is 46.

"We can now officially change Shahid Afridi's date of birth to 1 March 1977 from 1 March 1980,” India's renowned cricket statistician Mohandas Menon states.

"This means Afghanistan's Usman Ghani (17 years and 242 days) is now the youngest to score an ODI 100 (in July 2014). Afridi in Oct 1996 was 19 years and 217 days (and not 16 years and 217 days) when he made the famous 37-ball 100 in Nairobi."
