Second seeded Yasitha de Silva and top seeded Anika Seneviratne clinched the Men’s and Women’s Open singles title of the 105th National Tennis Championships by coming out victorious in the final played at the SLTA tennis courts in Greenpath, Colombo today.
Yasitha who was trailing in the first set was awarded the win after defending champion and top seeded Sharmal was forced to retire due to an injury which saw Yasitha clinching his maiden national singles title.
In the women’s singles final hot favourite Anika had little difficulty in brushing off the challenge of second seeded Janali Manamperi whom she outclassed by two sets to nil. Anika in the process regained the singles title having last won in the year 2018.
