St. Peter’s and Rathnayake MV emerge champions

St. Peter’s College, Bambalapitiya and A. Rathnayake MV, Walalla emerged Boys’ and Girls’ champions respectively at the 89th Sir John Tarbat Senior Athletics Meet which concluded at the Sugathadasa Stadium in Colombo today (12).

St. Peter’s secured 171 points and retained the title for the second successive year with St. Benedict’s claiming the runners-up position.

A. Rathnayake MV obtained 304 points to clinch the Girls’ overall title with Holy Cross College, Gampaha taking the second spot.

Meanwhile, seven more new records were eclipsed on the final day of the meet bringing the overall records tally to 15.

In addition, Y. C. M. Yodasinghe of St. Mary’s College, Kegalle was named the Best Athlete in the Boys’ category while Shelinda Jansen of Gateway College, Rajagiriya was named Best Athlete in the Girls’ category.
