Dan Mousley and Lewis Goldsworthy helped England U-19 to clinch the Plate title of the U-19 ICC World Cup cricket tournament as the duo combined to steer the side to record a convincing 152-run win over Sri Lanka U-19 in the final played at Benoni, South Africa today (03).
Mousley laid the foundation with a classic knock of 111 runs in 135 balls that included nine boundaries and a six and associated in a valuable partnership of 142 runs for the third wicket with Jack Haynes, who made 68.
England made a challenging score of 279 for 7.
In pursuit Sri Lanka, were made to struggle for their runs with left arm spinner Goldsworthy claiming three scalps to put them in trouble with the score on 77 for 5 in the 15th over.
Apart from Ravindu Rashantha, who made a top score of 66, the others failed to make any impression as Goldsworthy bagged the last two wickets to bundle out the Sri Lankans for a paltry 127 runs. Goldsworthy ended with impressive figures of 5 for 31 off seven overs.
