Singapore clinch AHF Women’s Hockey title

Singapore clinched the AHF Women’s Junior Hockey title when they finished on top of the points table in the six-nation tournament which concluded in Singapore today (16).

Singapore remained unbeaten throughout the tournament and recorded victories against Bangladesh (3-0), Uzbekistan (1-0), Sri Lanka (10-1), Chinese Taipei (4-0) and figured in a 0-0 draw against Hong Kong.

Uzbekistan emerged runners-up after finishing second in the points table and qualified to play in the 2020 Asian Women’s Hockey Championships along with the champions Singapore.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka finished last in the points table as they suffered another humiliating 0-8 defeat at the hands of Uzbekistan in their final outing.

This was Sri Lanka’s fifth successive defeat in the tournament and ended up having conceded as many as 29 goals to their opponents while scoring just a solitary goal.
