Chathurya, Thehan clinch Men’s Doubles title

Bottom seeds Chathurya Nilaweera and Thehan Wijemanne pulled off a stunning win over the top seeds Sankha Athukorala and Yasitha de Silva to clinch the Men’s Doubles title at the 105th National Tennis Championships played at the SLTA Courts in Green Path yesterday.

Chathurya (16) and Thehan (17), after conceding the first set, came back with a vengeance to win the next two sets and became the youngest pair to win the Men’s Doubles title.

Meanwhile, in the Women’s Doubles final top seeds Savini Jayasuriya and Janali Manamperi came out victorious over bottom seeds Anika Seneviratne and Alana Seneviratne.

Results:

  • Men’s Doubles final: Chathurya Nilaweera and Thehan Wijemanne beat Sankha Athukorala and Yasitha de Silva 3-6, 6-3, 10-5.
  • Women’s Doubles final: Savini Jayasuriya and Janali Manamperi beat Anika Seneviratne and Alana Seneviratne 6-3, 3-6, 10-4.
