Five cueists each from Army and Moors SC made it to the pre quarter-finals of the 67th National Snooker Championships which continued at the Automobile Association Club (AAC) and The Cue Club Billiards Table in Colombo yesterday.
The five Army cueists to succeed were Susantha Wickrama, M. M. Mubeen, C. Chandrasekera, M. S. Fernando and M. Sheriffdeen.
The five cueists from Moors SC to qualify were the defending champion M. F. M. Fahim, Riyaz Noor, H. A. M. Rimzan, Ahmed Zulfi and
Ashiq Hussain.
The other six cueists to qualify were T. Thanji (BRC), M. Abzal (POP), Ihsan Ali (The Cue), M. J. A. Thasleem (AAC), Imtiaz Farook and S. M. Thaha both of MICH.
The five matches scheduled to be played today are Ashiq Hussain (MSC) vs M. Abzal (POP), C. Chandrasekera (Army) vs M. S. Fernando (Army), Riyaz Noor (MSC) vs H. A. M. Rimzan (MSC), Ihsan Ali (The Cue) vs M. J. A. Thasleem (AAC) and M. Sheriffdeen (Army) vs S. M. Thaha (MICH).
