CH and FC on Thursday (30) announced their sixth high-profile signing in three months as Havelock Sports Club Captain Jason Melder crossed over to the Maitland Crescent Club in bizarre circumstances with club facing a three-year suspension.

The former St. Joseph’s College Captain had a difficult last season at Havelock Park despite being appointed as the Captain.

The second row forward who has already represented Sri Lanka had various injuries last season which forced him out of some crucial games.

Melder has followed the footsteps of former Havelock Skipper Sudharshana Muthuthanthri and teammates Nishon Perera, Sudam Parinda and Hirantha Perera who all joined Yoshitha Rajapaksa's side in an attempt to regain the league crown.

"Jason is a very talented player and has gained a lot of exposure during the last few seasons. We could see how he has matured as a forward and we are very happy to have him signed up for CH and FC," the CH Team Management told Daily Mirror on Thursday.
