Yohan, Jayavihan shine on day one

Yohan Liyanage and Jayavihan Mahavithana shone for Thurstan College against St. Thomas’ College Matara on day one of the Under 19 inter-school cricket encounter played at Thurstan ground.  

Yohan’s five-wicket haul helped Thurstan bundle out their opponents for a low score of 107 and Jayavihan’s knock of 85 enabled Thurstan to end the day in a strong position of 172 for 6.  
A half ton by Leshan Amarasinghe saw Isipathana College taking first lease of the wicket make a modest score of 218 runs against Mahanama Colombo, who ended day one on 43 for 0, in the match played at the BRC ground.  

A ton by Ruchira Adikari and half tons by Damith Dilshan, Lasitha Kularatne and Sandun Sathsara enabled Piliyandala Central to post a formidable score of 400 for 9 declared against Sri Dharmaloka MV Kelaniya, who ended the day on 15 for 0 in the match played at Piliyandala.  

Kalutara MV along with St. John’s College Jaffna and Taxila Central Horana were in command against Sri Jayawardenapura MV Kotte, Galahitiyawa Central and St. Mary’s College Chilaw at the end of the first day’s play in the matches played at Kalutara, Godigamuwa and Chilaw. The matches will be continued today.
