BCB await security clearance for SL tour

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is waiting for reports from National Security Intelligence (NSI) before they give a green signal to the team for the upcoming tour against Sri Lanka, set to be played in July.

BCB president (Nazmul Hasan) had announced earlier that ‘there was no way’ that the board could afford to send their National side to Sri Lanka in the wake of the terror attacks in the island nation, where nearly 300 people died and many were injured.

The three ODIs between these two nations were supposed to be played on July 25, 27 and 29 respectively but the announcement from Nazmul Hasan put the tour on doubt. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) requested the BCB ‘not to’ postpone the tour and promised VVIP security during the tour.

In what now comes as a positive development, four personnel of NSI have been sent to Sri Lanka to assess the situation, according to BCB officials.
