The last one for the road!

There had been a big rush by some Diyawanna politicos in the week that preceded the dissolution of the council to grab whatever privileges which they were about to lose.

Some fifty Diyawanna members had, for example, informed the Diyawanna office that they had applied for Visas to go abroad.

It is seldom that politicos at national level plan foreign visits in the run-up to an election. What was more surprising was that most of them had planned to visit Japan, which is greatly affected by the coronavirus.

By the way, our Diyawanna politicos are normally entitled to concessionary airfares for travel by our national air carrier. They enjoy several other privileges too in connection with foreign visits.
