There was a debate on the North -East problem in the Diyawanna council the other day.

It turned out to be a lack-luster event for most members had failed to show any interest in it. Even the government members who should be grateful to the main Northern alliance for coming to the government’s rescue on many a crisis situation, had kept themselves away from the council when the debate was on. In fact, it is the presence of the opposition members that had enabled maintaining a quorum to keep the debate going.

Once when the debate was dragging on in this lack-luster fashion, the only top team member present in the House was seen walking out. At this stage, a lawyer-member from the Northern alliance suddenly got up from his seat and hurriedly followed the top team member who was walking out. He angrily called out to the top team member: “Where are going…? None of your colleagues or members are available here…!” “I am only going to my room! Not going out!” replied the top team member handling the home affairs. “Ah! Then it’s okay! For God’s sake don’t go out!” said the Northern alliance member who returned to his seat.
