A fist fight averted!

Two Diyawanna politicos had almost come to blows in the council lobby the other day, they say.

The two bellicose politicos who were about to exchange blows were Radha from the upcountry estate sector and Rasa from Batticaloa.

The national convention of  Radha’s political party  was held in a town in the upcountry quite recently. Having planned to turn the occasion into an impressive event,  Radha had invited a number of political party leaders to  grace it as distinguished guests. However, he had not invited Mano and Diga of the upcountry estate sector alliance of which Radha’s party too is a constituent. So, these party leaders had been unhappy about being overlooked.

By the way, the Green party Northern  main alliance, Telephone party and some Pohottuwa stalwarts too had been invited to this event.

Rasa from Batticaloa and Harin from the Telephone party had, in fact,  gone to Nuwara-eliya with the intention of attending the national convention. Meanwhile, Mano who had called them had asked them whether it was proper for them to attend the event when their party leaders were not invited.

So, both Rasa and Harin had returned to their bases without attending the convention.

Radha who nursed a grudge against Rasa from Batticaloa for not attending the convention, had faulted the latter when he met him in the council lobby the other day which had led to a heated exchange between them.

The slanging match had later seen each advancing on the other belligerently and several Diyawanna politicos present there had intervened on time to avert a fist fight, they say.
