The children of a school orchestra in an egodapattu area had been rehearsing for several months for performing at the reception to a very high political authority billed to attend an important function of this school as the chief guest. The children playing various musical instruments had got new suits too tailored at a considerable cost for wearing on this special occasion.

The long-looked-for day for this school orchestra dawned. The children playing in the orchestra were eagerly waiting at the entrance to the school for the arrival of the high political authority to escort him to the venue of the ceremony when an officer of the high authority’s security detail suddenly appeared on the scene and told them to leave the place.

When the children who were shocked and dismayed refused to leave, the security officer asked the school authorities to move out the orchestra saying that the high authority was suffering from a cold and he would not walk to avoid being exposed to the hot sun and the dust.

So, the school authorities asked the children carrying the musical instruments to go back to the school. And the disappointed children turned back with tears in their eyes, they say.
