A masked benefactor

There is a young Diyawanna member, a former purohita, who held portfolios in previous governments.  He is also member of the black-coated gentry.

A rumour gone viral in political circles says that that he had taken on a mediator role in a bid to rescue a friendly top team member -- who also happens to be a distant relative of his -- from a possible steep fall.

This former purohita, however, is wary of openly safeguarding the interests of the top team member in difficulties. However, he is said to be making overtures on his behalf not only to political high-ups, but also leading media personnel, holding out big rewards for those being helpful in this hour of need.

Meanwhile, some political authorities have begun suspecting the conduct of this politico who, it has come to light, if he would call on the former strongman in the morning, he would be found at the military sibling’s place at noon and later in the evening at Number One’s official residence. And they have already instructed the intelligence sleuths to keep a watchful eye on the movements of the man.

The writer is unable to name this character at the moment.  All he can say is that his first name is a reminder of a onetime leading company in the country.
