Six gangsters arrested in STF raids

Six gangsters including accomplices of underworld figurine Angoda Lokka and Uru Juwa had been arrested by the STF during special raids in the Nawagamuwa, Ranala and Hanwella areas, the STF said.


They said the 26-year-old Indunil Kumara alias Indu, a resident of Ranala was arrested at his house on Saturday along with 1.2 grams of heroin and 427grams of cannabis, while the 22-year-old Dilshan Maduranga alias Dila was arrested at his house at Hanwella along with a sword on Saturday.The 22-year-old Nimesh Tharindu Kumara alias Kabaraya a resident of Ranala was arrested with Kerala Ganja and fake licence plates while the 37-year old Manjula Sampath alias Kela Maju was arrested with a sword in Ranala and 24-year-old, a resident of Hanwella was arrested with 12grms of Kerala Cannabis.


The STF officer said 2.5 grams of heroin and a machete was recovered from the 40-year-old W.M. Susantha Kumara alias Chora was arrested at his house at Nagahawatte in Ranala.
The arrested gangsters were handed over to the Hanwella and Nawagamuwa Police Stations along with seized drugs and weapons for further action.The raids were 
carried out by the STF teams led by CI Nadeeka Silva on the instructions of STF Commandant Senior DIG M R Latheef.
