Police erect special checkpoints to limit public movement

Police have taken steps to operate special check points from last morning to control the public movement between provinces.  


The Meerigama Police under the direct supervision of Gampaha SSP- K.K.Indika De Silva personally checked all vehicles entering the North Western Province and the Western Province. The police turned back the vehicles that attempted to proceed without a valid reason.   


A special check point was in operation at the Bentota Bridge , which is the main entry point to the Southern Province. The Aluthgama Police prevented the movement of all unauthorised vehicles to and from the Southern Province.  


The main check point on the Colombo – Kandy Road was in operation at Lower Kadugannawa. Vehicles entering from and to the Western Province were checked by the Kadugannawa Police and those from and to the Sabaragamuwa Province were checked by the Mawanella Police.  


Similar check points were in operation to control the public movement between all other provinces.
