One year service extension for Navy Commander

One year extension of service has been granted to the Navy Commander Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva by President Maithripala Sirisena.   


Appointed as the Navy Commander from January 1 of this year, he was due to retire from the service from yesterday. Piyal De Silva is a past student of Ambalangoda Dharmasoka Vidyalaya and joined the Navy in 1984 as a cadet officer. He has been honoured twice with the Veera Wickrema Vibhusana title considering his devotion as a navy officer for the motherland. He has also been conferred with several other titles including Rana Wickrema Rana Sura, Visista Seva Vibhusana and Utthama Seva.
