Met Dept. cautions public of extreme temperature

Department of Meteorology yesterday advised that temperature in several areas will increase up to ‘Extreme Caution Level’ in the coming days   


The Department said temperature in North-Western, Sabaragamuwa Provinces and in Mannar, Vavuniya, Anuradhapura , Gampaha and the Moneragala Districts will reach Extreme Caution Level. Accordingly the temperature in those areas was expected to spike from 32c degrees to 41 c degrees.   


“People in these areas could suffer from heat cramps, heat exhaustion and heat stroke as a result of the situation,” the Department said. People were advised to consume adequate water, wear light coloured clothing and not to allow children to remain inside vehicles for long hours and to avoid exhaustive work. 

 
Highest temperature of 37.2c was reported from Kurunegala, while temperature in most of the other areas were recorded 30c degrees.
