Malaysia declares amnesty period for illegal migrant workers

The Malaysian Government has declared an amnesty period for migrant workers who were staying in Malaysia violating immigration and emigration laws, to return to their respective countries without punishment, the Sri Lankan High Commissioner in Malaysia has informed the Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau.   


The amnesty period has been declared for four months from August 1 to December 31, 2019.   


Those who were staying illegally in Malaysia could leave the country after submitting a request letter along with other required documents and paying an administrative fee of RM 700.   
The required documents including air tickets will be issued within seven days. 

 
Relatives of Sri Lankans staying in Malaysia illegally are requested to encourage them to use this amnesty period and return to the country.
