NCCSL deeply concerned over ‘Wow Life’ organisation

The National Christian Council of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) takes very serious note of the activities and recent developments of the so-called ‘Wow Life’ organisationled by the self-acclaimed Bishop/Prophet Kirby de Lanerolle of the Apostolic Diocese of Ceylon.

Whilst affirming the religious liberty to study, interpret, preach and teach Holy Scripture (Holy Bible), we are deeply concerned and disturbed at the misinterpretations of Holy Scripture and the propagation of erroneous teachings based on such misinterpretations by Kirby de Lanerolle. We consider such actions as mischievous, misleading and misconstrued in terms of our ‘Faith’ and as religious leaders collectively and unitedly state the following:

  • Out-rightly condemn all such falsified teaching and practices perpetuated by Kirby de Lanerolle which sorrowfully are heterodox from both a biblical and ecclesiastical perspective.

  • Call upon the ‘faith community’ in Christ to be fully aware of the danger and life-destroying nature of ‘cult movements’ in our times which are centred on personalities, as in the case of Kirby de Lanerolle and the so-called ‘Wow Life’ organisation and to exercise utmost caution and discernment in associating with such fabricators of the ‘Truth.’

  • As religious leaders with historical presence and partnership in this land, we call upon the ‘State’ and related authorities to be mindful of granting accreditation to organisations and cult movements that can destroy the fabric of inherited life values (as seen in the present context) and our assurance of necessary support and cooperation at all times to the State in such matters.

  • In an era of duplicity that penetrates life and society; though not totally alarmed, do question the authenticity of the cult movement ‘Wow Life’ organisation, the status of its leader in Kirby de Lanerolle as Bishop (self-acclaimed) and the purported leadership role within the Christian community.

Call upon the ‘faith community’ in Christ to be fully aware of the danger and life-destroying nature of ‘cult movements’ in our times which are centred on personalities, as in the case of Kirby de Lanerolle and the so-called ‘Wow Life’ organisationand to exercise utmost caution and discernment in associating with such fabricators of the ‘Truth.’

We, the Church leaders, whilst unreservedly condemning the actions and activities of Kirby de Lanerolle and his ‘Wow Life’ organisation, stand committed to protect and shield its members from any harm in any way for being forthright and truthful in countering this dangerous trend.
