‘Adventures of Rickydeen’ Lanka’s first film shot on iPhone

Ambitious filmmakers in every part of the world have always looked for new formats and platforms to make their movies. With the advent of the latest technology, our filmmakers have also ventured into such technological revolutions.

In this context, award-winning filmmaker Boodee Keerthisena’s name emerges on top as the first director who started picturising a Sinhala film in the digital format. That was ‘Nimnayaka Hudakalawa’ in 2008. And now Boodee has started another experimental venture shooting his newest film ‘Adventures of Rickydeen’ using the iPhone. This is the first local movie shot on iPhone.

Veteran Buddhi Keerthisena who produced the movie said he was glad his son Boodee always tried to create something different.

Adventures of Rickydeen’ is a hilarious movie with a popular star cast including Sangeetha Weeraratne, Mahendra Perera, Palitha Silva, Shalani Tharaka, Darshan Dharmaraja and others. We have already completed one schedule and the rest will be completed soon. Our audiences will certainly feel the difference. I have also lined up a second film called ‘Awi Gaththo’ which will also be directed by Boodee soon,” he said.

Commenting on his newest venture Boodee Keerthisena said, Sangeetha, Mahendra, Palitha, Dasun and others play multiple roles in ‘Adventures of Rickydeen’ while more cast members would be pencilled in for the next schedules. Senaka de Silva is the choreographer while Lakshman Joseph de Saram is the music director.

“Filming Rickydeen on iPhone was itself a big challenge. We will complete this film soon and then move on to the next project ‘Awi Gaththo’ which is going to be an action, suspense thriller adventure movie revolving around love, romance, betrayal, loyalty spiced with a variety of entertaining elements. 

“The screenplay is ready and casting is ongoing. Hemal and Mahendra are already in it. Meanwhile my ‘Rumassala’ tele series on Iflix.com is now available free for one month and I hope our audiences will appreciate it. It touches upon various topics which are closer to our lives. It’s a creation filled with mystery, mythical aspects and magic,” said Boodee.
