Homemaker Chandani Baranage, the winner of the grand prize and some of the consolation prize winners in the ‘A Dash of Sri Lanka’ competition conducted by Daily Mirror Life and Emirates, received their prizes last week at the Emirates office in Colombo. The consolation prize winners were Bernadine Roshanie Li, Jerome Seneviratne, Artheha Asokan, Shamiha Anzary and Savith Herath.

The competition offered food and travel enthusiasts an opportunity to compete for a trip to Dubai and a visit to Emirates Flight Catering, the world’s largest flight kitchen, courtesy of the award-winning airline and Daily Mirror Life. All they had to do was to guess the missing ingredient in Emirates Airline’s recipe for ‘fish ambul thiyal’ – one of several Sri Lankan dishes served on board flights in the subcontinent region. As the lucky winner of the competition, Chandani Baranage will have an opportunity to witness first hand how Emirates, the world’s biggest airline, prepares popular local dishes like fish ambul thiyal, Sri Lankan chicken curry and kiribath in Dubai every day for thousands of passengers.
