Wealth, health and fame are the main three factors that make life worth living.

Normal human nature
One should have a steady income at least to meet the bare necessities in life.   However, no ordinary person is content with leading an austere or a hand-to-mouth life.  The normal human being wants to lead a comfortable life if not a life of luxury.  To acquire all needs for a comfortable life, satisfy countless desires and enjoy sensual pleasures, man needs wealth.

 Results of Karma
However, you cannot enjoy wealth if you are a sickly person.  Therefore, good health is as important as wealth.
The normal human being is not satisfied with wealth and health alone.  He craves for love, respect, recognition and power over others.  Fame represents these psychological needs of the human being.

According to Vedic Astrology, it is the Karma, good and bad accumulated in the previous birth that determines whether you are to enjoy wealth, health and fame or to suffer from want and lead a life of misery in humble and lowly circumstances in this birth. And one’s life plan as indicated by the Kundalini or the planetary map formed in the heavens at the time of birth is determined by the previous Karma.

Nexus between 9th House and previous Karma
There is a close link between one’s previous Karma and the Bhagyasthana – the House of Fortune or the 9th House in one’s Natal Chart.

A strong 9th House or Bhagyasthana brings wealth and fame.  Any relationship, conjunction or exchange of the lords of the 9th and 10th Houses is considered most beneficial in regard to career and finances.

A strong and well-disposed Lagna or the Ascendant forms the basis for a materially successful life.  A strong ascendant and an equally strong 9th House assures the subject of access to immense wealth.  The 2nd House mainly represents the source of wealth.

Houses ruling wealth
The 2nd, 11th and 9th Houses also rule the amount of wealth.  The 5th and 9th Houses represent the Karma brought forward from the previous birth.  Therefore, one’s financial position can be determined by a careful study of all these Houses.  The exchange or conjunction of the 5th and 10th lords or the 9th and the 10th lords or their association in a Kendra (quadrant) or a trine confer high office in the government or government patronage which would enable the subject acquire much wealth, fame and prosperity.

Significance of the 9th House
If the 9th lord is weak or in debilitation, one may suffer from want despite the 11th and 2nd Houses being strong.  The 9th lord in the 9th House, aspected or associated with benefics confers immense wealth, fortune, high recognition and success in all endeavours.

For the Scorpio ascendant, the 5th lord Jupiter is more important than the 9th lord Moon who happens to be the Badhakadipati as well.

Scorpio and Aquarius natives
Akhanda Samrajya Yoga is formed when Jupiter is well placed from Moon in a Kendra. For Scorpio ascendant Jupiter is the lord of the 2nd and 5th Houses whereas for Aquarius, Jupiter is the lord of the 2nd and the 11th Houses.  Jupiter is the Significator for wealth as well.  Therefore, Moon and Jupiter being placed in an angle for these ascendants makes the subject wealthy.

9th House and marital happiness
The beneficial effects of the 9th House are not confined to wealth and fortune.  According to savants, the married life would be happy if a strong benefic is placed in the 9th House even when the 7th House is afflicted.

A natural benefic is more beneficial
A natural benefic is more beneficial than a natural malefic as the lord of the Ascendant or the 9th House.  For example, for the Aries Ascendant, Jupiter in the 9th House is more beneficial than Saturn in the 9th House for the Gemini Ascendant.  For the Sagittarius native, Jupiter in the 9th House of Leo is more beneficial than Saturn in the 9th House of Virgo for the Capricorn Ascendant.
