Ten more COVID-19 infected patients were reported yesterday, bringing the total to 176 in Sri Lanka, the Ministry of Health said.

Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi said yesterday that people should take precautions to prevent the community spread of this disease in the country.

She said a person who did not have any previous health implications succumbed to the disease as the latest victim, and it was a classic example for people to realise the gravity of this situation. She requested people to act with responsibility in this case. The first Sri Lankan infected with corona case was reported on March 11. So far, five persons have died of the disease.

Meanwhile, the first Sri Lankan to die from COVID-19 in Australia identified as Sumith Premachandra (59), succumbed to his condition in Melbourne yesterday, the authorities reported.
