Two arrested with Rs.12.6mn cash, gold

The  Criminal Investigations Department has arrested two suspects, including  an accomplice of drug kingpin Mohammed Siddique with Rs.12.6 million in  cash and 40 sovereigns of gold jewellery in Grandpass, Police said.

Police  Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said they were arrested from a house under  the provisions of Dangerous Drugs Ordinance and the prevention of Money  Laundering Act.

Police suspect the money had been earned through drug trafficking/peddling.

Drug kingpin Mohammed Siddique who was arrested in Pakistan and was remanded after being brought to Sri Lanka in 2015.
