Six test positive following 504 RATs on those leaving WP

Six persons tested positive for COVID-19 after 504 random Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were conducted on Wednesday on those leaving the Western Province, police said.   

Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said  steps were taken to resume such testing at 11 exit points in the Western Province from Wednesday.  


Meanwhile, the spokesman said  random tests would also be conducted on passengers, drivers and conductors of long distance buses operating from Colombo, especially to the Northern and Eastern provinces and also on school van drivers and their assistants.  


Accordingly, two persons have been found infected with COVID-19 through RATs conducted on 103 passengers who were leaving Colombo in long distance buses.  
In addition, 184 persons at weekly fairs in the Western Province and 36 school van drivers and assistants were subjected to RATs, but none tested positive, he said.  
DIG Rohana said random tests would be continued at weekly fairs, fish stalls and those operating school transport services.
