- Confirmed Covid-19 cases in SL exceeds 9,000 mark

The recent COVID-19 victims including the three persons who died on Tuesday, were suffering from chronic diseases, Chief Epidemiologist Dr. Sudath Samaraweera said.
He told media that the prevailing COVID-19 situation in the county has posed a higher danger on senior citizens with chronic diseases. “Therefore, it is much important for the senior citizens to be extra cautious, take precautionary measures and seek immediate medical attention if they feel unfit and unwell.
Meanwhile, he said if people stick to basic health guidelines, the combat against the COVID-19 could easily be won. He also reiterated that with the emergence of the COVID-19 cluster at Peliyagoda Fish Market, people need not fear eating fish. However, he pointed out that it is important to always wash the hands with soap for at least 20 seconds after shopping, handling food packages, or before preparing or consuming food.
Meanwhile, the total confirmed Covid-19 cases in Sri Lanka surpassed the 9,000 mark with 335 positive cases reported yesterday.
