Nearly 521 people who were quarantined at the Kandakadu, Punani, Diyathalawa and Vanni quarantine centres left for their homes last morning.

Those released included 315 people from quarantine centres operated by the Sri Lanka Army and 206 from the Vanni quarantine centre operated by the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF).

The SLAF said 206 returnees from overseas were sent to the Vanni Quarantine Centre on March 17 and among them were a British passport holder and a Philippino woman.

They said those released would have to undergo two more weeks of self-isolation.

To-date more than 2,300 who had undergone quarantine at centres operated by the tri-forces had returned home after their clearance certificates were received from medical authorities.
