An impartial investigation will be carried out on allegations made by UPFA MP Roshan Ranasinghe, that he was threatened by President Maithripala Sirisena’s brother Dudley State Minister of Defence, Ruwan Wijewardene told Parliament yesterday.

He said this when MP Ranasinghe claimed that Mr. Sirisena had on three occasions threatened to kill him.

“ I will discuss the matter with the IGP and see that an impartial investigation is carried out on the allegations made by Mr. Ranasinghe,” the state minister said.

The MP, who raised a privilege issue in the House last morning said the President’s brother had telephoned a North-Central Provincial Council member Amarakeerthi Athukorala and had informed him that he will get the MP killed.

The MP had said the Polonnaruwa police had not conducted any investigation on the death threats. “ Polonnaruwa police is the family police station of President Sirisena, I have informed the IGP and nothing has been done about it. Then I informed the CID in writing. CID had informed that the death threat is not relevant to them. ” he said.
He said his business premises were burnt down on August 22, 2017 and the Government analyst had confirmed that the fire was an act of sabotage.
