Police hunt for those who exploited teenage girl for sexual purposes

Police have launched an investigation to nab several persons who paid money to sexually abuse a 15-year old girl following an arrest of a 35-year old man.   

Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said that the police arrested the 35-year-old man in Mount Lavinia for using a teenage girl for sex trafficking.  


He said investigations have revealed that the suspect had sold the girl to several individuals over the last 3-months.  


It was revealed that the suspect had published various advertisements on social media to sell the girl to third parties.  


DIG Rohana said that the trafficking had been conducted at an apartment situated in Mount Lavinia.  
He said the suspect had acquired the girl from her mother, who is a resident of Delgoda. Police also recorded a statement from the woman in this regard  


The suspect was produced before the Moratuwa Magistrate’s Court and has been remanded.
