Organized Crime Investigation Division yesterday filing a motion before Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court sought Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratna’s permission to obtain the recording of the speech made by former Western Province Governor Azath Salley from two media institutes.

The Police filing a report in court asserted that the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) member and lawyer Premanath Dolawatte had complained to the division that during a media briefing, former western province governor Asath Salley had made an assertion alleging that Judges have links with extremist organizations,

They said the complainant Dolawatte in his complaint stated that Asath Salley’s comments posed danger and it would create dissension and conflict among different ethnic groups and religious sects. Therefore the complainant had urged the Police to arrest the former WP Governor.

The Magistrate issued an order on two media institutes to issue the copies of the recordings which contain the speech, to the Organized Crime Investigation Division.
