Officers verbally abused during PCR testing

  • Police arrest the fisherman after being alerted

The Galle police said that a fisherman was arrested on Saturday for verbally abusing officials taking swabs for PCR testing at Baladaksha Mawatha, in Galle fort. 

The 60 year old fisherman was a resident of Wakwella road in Galle.   


PCR tests were done on the fishermen by the municipal authorities with the assistance of the health workers of the Pradeshiya Sabha in Poddala in the Fisheries harbour at Galle, Jakotuwella and Rathgama wella.   
When the Public Health Officer Chirantha Guruge started taking swabs from fishermen , the suspect had hurled abusive language in protest. The health workers had subsequently alerted the police who had arrested the suspect.
